Director Kevin Tancharoen, director of FAME has put together his vision for a new Mortal Kombat reboot. In this nearly eight minute demo scene, feature Michael Jai White as JAX and Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade, Tancharoen attempts to bring a new twist on the MK universe with a much darker and less mythical story. This was made in an attempt to sell the idea to WB who picked up the Mortal Kombat license after Midway’s collapse. There is still a lot of legal battles going on over the rights to this franchise which will probably keep this film in limbo even if WB green-lights the idea.

Do this vision of a new MK appeal to you? Improvement over the previous attempts in the franchise? Let us know what you think.

[Update] Collider.com recently scored an interview with the shorts director Kevin Tancharoen, you can check it out here.

After six season J.J. Abrams mysterious island adventure has come to a end, with a whimper. Was this what six seasons of tension, betrayal, deceit, mysteries black smoke, and deaths have brought us to? Now there are lot of theories floating around after Sundays series finale. The biggest theory that the island was purgatory, but there has been many people who refuse to believe it because they only see purgatory through the Christian concept of place for those of sin to repent. From the viewpoint of Judaism and Muslims, purgatory of place of purification where souls go to cleanse and to release themselves of the unresolved issues they had in life.

As stated at the end of the finale, we know that all those on Flight 815 died in the crashed. We see through the series and pretty much everyone who “survived” the crash had issue(s) that where left unresolved and in the end most of them meet and faced challenges that resolved those issue(s).

Overall, it was pretty generic ending to a pretty decent series. And the purgatory idea was one that myself and friends has passed around aseason ago and I was shock that the producer actually went with this idea. What did you think of the LOST series finale? Disappointed? Angry? Satisfied? Relieved? Comment on you reaction to the LOST finale.

Seem Sony is taking George “geohot” Hotz recent successful hacking of the PS3 low-level area pretty seriously.

PS3 Firmware (v3.21) Update

Posted by Patrick Seybold // Sr. Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media

The next system software update for the PlayStation 3 (PS3) system will be released on April 1, 2010 (JST), and will disable the “Install Other OS” feature that was available on the PS3 systems prior to the current slimmer models, launched in September 2009. This feature enabled users to install an operating system, but due to security concerns, Sony Computer Entertainment will remove the functionality through the 3.21 system software update.

In addition, disabling the “Other OS” feature will help ensure that PS3 owners will continue to have access to the broad range of gaming and entertainment content from SCE and its content partners on a more secure system.

Consumers and organizations that currently use the “Other OS” feature can choose not to upgrade their PS3 systems, although the following features will no longer be available;

* Ability to sign in to PlayStation Network and use network features that require signing in to PlayStation Network, such as online features of PS3 games and chat
* Playback of PS3 software titles or Blu-ray Disc videos that require PS3 system software version 3.21 or later
* Playback of copyright-protected videos that are stored on a media server (when DTCP-IP is enabled under Settings)
* Use of new features and improvements that are available on PS3 system software 3.21 or later

For those PS3 users who are currently using the “Other OS” feature but choose to install the system software update, to avoid data loss they first need to back-up any data stored within the hard drive partition used by the “Other OS,” as they will not be able to access that data following the update.

Additional information about PS3 firmware updates, including v3.21 (once it becomes available), can be found here:
http://us.playstation.com/support/systemupdates/ps3/index.htm
